Institute for Optimum Nutrition On-demand CPD Course - Men’s Health: An Undiagnosed Epidemic

Published to Upcoming Events on Aug 21, 2023

Men’s Health – An Undiagnosed Epidemic, takes a deep-dive into the issues surrounding both the physical and mental aspects of men’s health. It identifies how these are linked and why there is a disparity between men’s health, life expectancy and rates of mental health problems.

This course begins by looking at WHO statistics for the main chronic diseases affecting men and the average outcomes such as life expectancy due to these issues. This course also looks at the mental, physical, hormonal and lifestyle factors at play when it comes to men’s health issues and what could be done to improve them, such as how is cardiovascular disease linked to socioeconomic status, and what role does testosterone play in the pathway to feelings of depression.

In this modern day era of high stress, burnout, financial pressures, pandemic aspects impacting business and family, as well as illness and mental issues compounding men’s health, it’s important for practitioner to be able to see the issues that men are facing. How can we as healthcare providers support men from a fully holistic standpoint, understanding not only the burden of chronic disease on them, but also the interplay between their digestive health, hormonal health, dietary and lifestyle habits and access to healthcare, so that we can fully support them in our clinics.
