Levels of Membership

The Naturopathic Nutrition Association is YOUR association. The NNA welcomes input from its individual members and encourages them to take an active role in the organisation.

  • We need members to volunteer to join the NNA's Education Committee, so it you might be interested, please get in touch with us to ask for details of what's likely to be involved. NNA membership
  • The NNA aims to establish a mentoring scheme for newly qualified graduates. If you're a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist who has experience in practice, and would like to consider becoming a mentor, please get in touch with us.

Membership is available at Full (practitioner), Associate and Student levels. Application details can be found on our How to apply for membership page.

Full Membership is for practitioners who have successfully completed a recognised professional training course in:

  • a) Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy - as provided by one of the training providers listed on the Education & Training pages
  • b) Nutritional Therapy - information about training providers is given on the Education & Training pages

Full members must have professional insurance cover for nutritional therapy, comply with the NNA’s Codes and Ethics, and must meet the competences of the National Occupational Standards CNH1, CNH2, CNH8 and CNH9. In line with many professional associations, the NNA is phasing in a requirement for Full Members to provide a certificate showing they have attended a First Aid course, and a Police Record check; if these documents are not currently held, they will need to be produced at the time of the first membership renewal. A number of suppliers are supporting the NNA by offering special introductory discounts to our Full Members; you'll find their contact information on our Links page

Associate Membership is for Nutrition Advisors who have successfully completed a professional training course comprising at least 400 hours work, including at least 10 hours face-to-face attendance at tutorials, and who comply with the NNA’s Codes of Ethics.

Student Membership is for those of 18 years of age or over who are enrolled as students of either Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy or Nutritional Therapy.

Full members are entitled to use the designatory letters MNNA and will appear on the Association’s Register of Therapists.

Associate members are entitled to use the designatory letters Ass.NNA and will appear on the Association’s Register of Nutrition Advisors.

Full and Associate members will be entitled to special discounts and promotions from a number of related suppliers.

Registration with the General Naturopathic Council

Full members who have completed a course in Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy with one of the listed training providers will be eligible to apply to be registered with the General Naturopathic Council (GNC). The initial level of registration will be Associate Naturopath but after completing ‘missing’ naturopathic elements within a given period of time they will be able to upgrade to the level of Registered Naturopath

Full members who have completed an appropriate Nutritional Therapy course will need to demonstrate to the NNA that they practise in accordance with naturopathic principles before being eligible to apply for GNC registration.
